How does a medical alert system work?

Press the button

One press on your pendant, wristband or watch. If you added fall detection, a hard fall can trigger the call for you.

A real person answers

A trained operator at the 24/7 Canadian monitoring centre speaks with you through the device and stays on the line.

The right help is sent

The operator calls the people you chose — a neighbour, family, or 911 — and tells them exactly what’s happening and where you are.

Why do seniors choose SeniorSentry?

Because the goal isn’t the gadget — it’s staying in the home you love, on your own terms, without your family worrying every time the phone rings.

A real person, day and night

Press the button and a trained operator answers — not a menu, not a recording. The Canadian monitoring centre behind SeniorSentry has answered for over 20 years.

Built for senior eyes

The biggest, most readable site in the category — even our font was designed by the Braille Institute for aging eyes. If you’re reading this comfortably, that’s why.

Straight prices, honest terms

Most alert companies hide pricing behind a sales call. Ours is on the pricing page — every dollar date-stamped, and the 24-month term explained before you decide, not after.

No pressure, ever

No countdown timers, no robots answering you, no “offer expires today.” Call when you’re ready. Hang up whenever you like. We’ll be here.

Service in English and French

The whole site, the advisors you call, and the monitoring centre — in both languages. Consultez le site en français.

Honest about our business

We’re a dealer for Senior Protection and we’re paid a commission — explained plainly on How We’re Paid. Our incentive is your right fit, not a big ticket.

The math that matters

Protection starts at about a dollar a day. For comparison, the last national CMHC survey put the average retirement-residence rent at $3,075 a month (2021, the survey’s final year). The button isn’t the expensive option — leaving home is. See every price.

Quick answers before you call

How much does a medical alert system cost in Canada?

Plans run from $29.99 to $59.99 per month CAD depending on the device, with $0 for equipment, activation and shipping (checked 17-Jul-2026). Fall detection is included on the pendant and watch, and is a $9.99/month add-on for at-home systems. Full details are on our pricing page.

Is there a contract?

The $0-equipment pricing is based on a 24-month monitoring term — we’d rather tell you that here than in fine print. Ask your advisor about the terms that fit your situation, including cancellation, before you decide. No pressure, ever.

How is this different from calling 911?

You can’t always reach a phone after a fall. The button is on you, and the operator who answers knows your name, address and health notes — then decides with you whether to send family, a neighbour or 911. For many calls, an ambulance isn’t needed at all.

Does it work outside the house?

Yes — that’s what the on-the-go pendant and smartwatch are for. They use 4G LTE and GPS, so they work on a walk, at the store or on a trip anywhere in Canada with cell coverage. At-home systems cover the house and yard, up to about 1,200 feet from the base.

Do I need a landline?

No. The LTE at-home system and both mobile devices work without any phone line. If you do have a landline, the landline system is the least expensive option at $29.99/month CAD. More in our guide: Do you need a landline?
